Usually, some trauma causes the fascia system to tighten as a protective mechanism. Trauma is a result of an acute (a tendon strain, fall, impact), chronic (musculoskeletal compensation for some time), or recurrent (repetitive injuries) episode. There are any numbers of contributing factors:
· A locked pelvic girdle causing back, neck or shoulder soreness
· Unexpected shed row incidents * Sharp turns
· Getting Cast * Kicking * Spooking in stall
· Uneven footing in stall * Daily repetitive motions
· Incorrect saddle fit * Unbalanced rider
· Unusual footing (too deep, hard or slippery)
Horses in training require a combination of flexibility, strength, balance, coordination and endurance.
When fascia restrictions (knots and muscle spasms) are present, any and all of these components can be limited, causing a decreased performance by your horse. These limitations can be as subtle as difficulty bending in one direction, subtle compensation or as obvious as being completely lame.
Equine MFR is a safe and effective way to help your horse return to full activities and to enhance performances.
